Houndy uses artificial intelligence in specific, bounded ways to improve event discovery. Most of our platform — standard search, Concierge planning, Plan My Day, event admission, deduplication, and inventory maintenance — is deterministic and does not use AI. This page explains exactly where AI is used, what rules constrain it, and what event accuracy means for users.
Important: Regardless of AI verification, you should always confirm event details — including dates, times, venue addresses, prices and ticket availability — directly with the event organiser or ticket seller before attending or purchasing.
Ask Houndy — AI-assisted search
When you use the Ask Houndy search assistant, AI interprets your natural language query to extract intent — genre, location, date, mood, price range, named events or artists. This helps find events that match what you're looking for.
AI does not fabricate results. If no matching events exist in our database, search returns nothing rather than inventing events. AI is used to understand your query, not to generate event data.
Event classification and enrichment
AI assists in classifying events into categories (music, theatre, comedy, sport, etc.) and enriching event metadata (tags, semantic keywords) when provider data is incomplete.
AI classification is a hint, not the final truth. Provider metadata and deterministic rules take priority. AI cannot override a trusted official source.
Image relevance checking
AI checks that event images are relevant to the event type and category. A football image should not appear on a tennis event. An unrelated stock image should not represent a specific artist.
If AI cannot find a relevant image, a safe category fallback is used. Misleading images are removed. AI-generated images are clearly labelled as such.
These core platform functions are fully deterministic — they use fixed rules, database queries, and provider APIs. No AI is involved in their decisions.
Standard search
Most searches on Houndy are deterministic — they query our database directly using parsed filters (category, location, date). AI is only used for Ask Houndy natural language queries, not for standard search.
Concierge planning
Concierge plans (travel, dining, parking, accommodation suggestions) are generated using deterministic recommendation logic and provider APIs — not AI. Suggestions are based on proximity, availability, and category matching.
Plan My Day
Plan My Day uses deterministic date intelligence to select viable events based on time of day, event start times, and preparation buffers. No AI is involved in date selection or event viability checks.
Event admission and housekeeping
The daily data housekeeping process that promotes, demotes, and deactivates events is fully deterministic. It uses fixed rules (trusted source, valid link, usable location, future date) — no AI decisions.
Deduplication
Canonical deduplication uses a deterministic fingerprint (normalised title + venue + date + time + city) to identify true duplicates. No AI is involved in dedup decisions.
Coverage measurement and acquisition
Inventory coverage measurement and coverage-driven acquisition are deterministic processes. They count events per city and invoke provider APIs on a schedule — no AI.
Invent events that do not exist
Fabricate URLs, ticket links or venue addresses
Override official source data without evidence
Generate event descriptions that misrepresent what the event is
Match irrelevant images to events
Recommend events that have already passed as current
Claim an event is confirmed when the source is uncertain
Bypass the quality gate to publish unverified events
Houndy runs a continuous Quality Guardian process that monitors live events for accuracy problems. It checks:
Date and time changes
Venue address changes
Ticket URL validity
Image relevance
Events that have been cancelled or postponed
Duplicate events from multiple sources
Stale or outdated event descriptions
Broken ticket links
When an issue is detected, the event is automatically corrected where safe to do so, or flagged for human review. Events that cannot be verified are hidden from public discovery until resolved.

Low — requires admin reviewDespite our verification processes, event details can change rapidly and without notice. Cancellations, postponements, venue changes and ticket price changes can occur after we have published an event.
Houndy is a discovery tool, not a ticket seller. We are not responsible for changes made by event organisers, venues or ticket platforms after an event has been published on Houndy.
